1st weekend of June: Proposal

I'd like to know what's going on the weekend following Memorial Day? That would be May 31/June 1.

'Cause if the peeps have the will, I say it's high time that we identify some storage space (before hand), and have a work party that weekend to clean out Kevee's Garage. Of course, the work party will be followed by a traditional style fam-jamily burn barrel gathering of TCFKAMP proportions.

Who's up for such a thing? I'd say it will take a minimum of 9 to make it worth while, including a few key, required players, such as myself, Kevee, Piepo, Sija, and of course, YOU.

Other items we can address this same time:

-A General Gathering to discuss outstanding business (notice how I did NOT use the word meeting?) I'm sure Sija and others have information to share or questions to be posed to the group.

-!ROAR! The Leo Party is to be the first weekend of August. This is also my 40th birthday. Who will help?

-MonkeyBucks. There's sill some fundage remaining from Threshold after SnowMonkey 2008. What's the best way to re-invest this back in to our community?

-Other - perhaps you have something to add? Something you'd like to be able to share in person in the intimate setting of Kevee's back yard?

my merry mischief ways are getting me into a heap of trouble and fun this season....and i am looking for people, movers, shakers and fellow mischief makers in a VaRieTy of capacities.....to help create Water in the Desert, or to *star* in the evening performance (of pure magickal shakesperean butoh mayhem)!!!!

if you are interested in helping out in the creation of Water in the Desert, outside of performing, we are looking for volunteers of many levels of commitment. The project is a huge community effort and is only as beautiful as all of the hands that join in the creation. If you are able or interested, we will have a meeting this Thursday at FlowForm at 8pm.

THEN on Saturday, May 3rd we will be having a Beltaine celebration and fundraiser for FlowForm Studios and Water in the Desert with performances by yours truly as well as Rose City Vaudeville, projections by our very own m.one, some people called sexy waterspiders, dj muse and more.............(it's only $2 from 8-9 so you could come by and have a glass of wine on your way to the Taurus ball....or come and Stay all night!!!!)

LASTLY, i am making a MASSive Call out to performers of all shapes and inclinations (even those with stagefright) to perform in the midsummer night's dream project for Water in the desert this summer.

There will be an audition this sunday May 4th from 1-4pm at Om TRAdition Arts 14 NE 10th AVE. We will be rehearsing throughout June & July....and there are roles available with varying degrees of commitment....some that will require 1 weekly rehearsal throughout june & july or 2 or 3 weekly rehearsals.....and for those that want to dive in last minute, there will be huge pieces of choreography to learn just before the project, in a week of intensive-ness-----to be part of a massive chorus of FAERIES.

Pure as the Drive Snow - CORRECTION: Julie & Drew's play on APRIL 26th (not May)

There is a pre-party meetup at ZigZag's, then carpooling to the theater, and an after party at our place.

This is NEXT Saturday night, April 26th. Not May. If you wait until May 26th, you'll miss it because we close on May 24th.

If you contact ZigZag with your "I'm In", she will get a final headcount and make group reservations, so that you will all have RESERVED seating AND get the $2 discount from $12 to $10 ticket price. But it must be prepaid, and I strongly urge you to get this done no later than TUESDAY THIS WEEK so she can get the reservation made. Sooner if possible, please.

You'll want to arrive at the theater no later than 7:30, so I suggest leaving ZigZag's house a minimum of 45 minutes before that to allow for travel time to Sandy. I stongly recommend leaving her place by 5:30. (Earlier wouldn't hurt, though).

Curtain is at 8pm. The show runs approximately 2 hrs 10 min (including 2 intermissions). There is a champagne reception immediately following the performance. This usually lasts 20-30 minutes.

Then it's party time at our house: 825 SE 155th Ave (just south of Stark)

IF for some ungodly reason you can't make it out on this most auspicious of nights, don't kick yourself too hard. The show runs for 5 weeks, so you can still catch us on another night. Or, if you are so enamored of the play upon your first viewing, you are more than welcome to return for subsequent performances, and are highly encouraged to tell others how great it is, how much fun it is, and that their life might possibly be incomplete if the don't see it for themselves.

We had a great run through tonight. This one is a winner, folks. Looking forward to seeing you all there.

I was so pleased to find the Monkey Puzzle tribe still up. I though Kevee would have taken it down under some copyright infringement policy or something (just a jest)

Meanwhile, I have decided I have no right to function as a Monkey since, you know, I live many miles away.

I will always be a Monkey, just not a part of the puzzle anymore (or at least for now)

Meanwhile, in SF the Cap't and I have started making plans for Adoration.....if you don't know it's a little camp on the playa that throws the largest party for females in BRC. Our goal is to adore the female in a safe, comfortable atmosphere.

This year we are walking away further from Adoration's roots as a the Critical Tits after party. That was then, this is now.
This year we are planning our Party to take place Thursday afternoon-night. Avoiding the weekend madness.

We have plenty of room for campers! Since the function of our camp is to provide one party the whole week, it will mostly be a very chill, non abrasive, quiet camp. It's not your mama's work camp.

Although, as a member of Adoration you will be expected to help set up at the beginning of the week. Prepare for the party ( which should be pretty easy since we only have two big structures which will be built for us on site.) and at the end of the week, help take down. In exchange you get to camp on some pretty nice property. Kick it and party.

Added benefits will include, but not limited too,
me naked most of the time,
getting some scraps from the hot girls that will inevitably come in and out of the Cap't and I's tent
the Cap't run around naked ( I may be biased but that is THE KIND)
oh and also did I mention _ throwing the biggest party for woman on the playa.....DUH

Things that will not be included.....no performances to plan, no domes to raise, no scheduled dinners, no worries, no color coded decor plan, NO MEETINGS!!....just fun....with limited responsibilities

So if you are looking for a dope place to hang your hat at night and still participate in the madness that is Burning Man. Let me know. We would love to have some monkeys in the Adoration mix.

So, as most of you know, Julie and I are in rehearsals for a play out in Sandy. Opening Night is in 2 and a half weeks, on Friday, April 25th. Performances are Friday & Saturday nights @ 8pm, Sunday nights @ 6pm. Tickets are $12, unless there's a prepaid reservation of 10 or more; then they're $10, and you get reserved seating.

For those of you who came to see my show out there last spring, you remember what a blast we had that night, including the after-party at our house. The Groove Bomb was an awesome addition to the whole evening, providing fun-filled transpo for the group. I'd love to be have another night like this for this show, which, in my humble opinion, will be even better than last year. I have a much more significant role in this play as the Villain in this melodrama, so you will all get a chance to really see what Drew Can Do as a Comedic Actor On Stage. Not to mention the fabulous debut of my dear Julie as Nellie, The Beautiful Cloak Model.

Julie & I ready & willing to host the after party again at our house. What I'm unable to do is organize getting everybody out there on the same night. Last year, Julie handled all of this, but she can't do it this time, so I'm hoping one of my friends can handle this for us.

What I'm asking of one of you is if you'd be willing to coordinate & organize the date, reservations, and see if the Groove Bomb is willing & available to make this run again? If the Groove Bomb is indeed going to participate this time, there is a monetary consideration for this, too. In addition to party snacks, beer, & wine, I can contribute up to $50 towards the bus for this, but the rest will have to come from donations from those riding.

Any weekend during the run will be fine, either a Friday or Saturday would be best. I'm going to venture a guess and say that a Friday will be preferred by most. We run for 5 weeks, closing on Saturday, May 24th.

So, any takers, please? I promise my brother will not be bringing his drunken drama queen this time.

So I am sitting here on this ship, having a swell time (even though, or perhaps because of, the seas being a 6 out of 10, and everyone flying all over the hallways).....

I load up Spirits' Monkey Puzzle documentary, just for a little spice of home in my life..... A funny thing to check out, after all this talk of going or not going to this Burning Man....

I have to say that I dont know what the future holds for me, let alone if I am going to Burning Man, but after watching this wonderful little 15 minute doc, I got tears in my eyes, and I remembered just why this event is so great an inspiration and event for all of us. Why we love hanging with our fellow monkeys, and why we put up with the too much drugs and touristy aspect of the whole playa experience.

I highly suggest that you all take another look at our little video, just to give youself an up on all the beauty and love that this wonderful event has to offer, if only you can put aside the jaded feelings and winter dulldrums for a minute to truly remember why this shitkicker of a party keeps bringing us back for more....

Maybe its me being away (and I mean truly far far away, in both physical and mental space) that brings me hope and desire for that one more art car ride on the open playa,
that one more haning on for dear life as a dust storm blasts me at full speed into a swirling maddness,
that one more sunrise after a night of debaucherous madness,
that one more ice cold gin n tonic as I take a lesurly stroll past people doing everything imagineable, and especially,
that one more time to partake in a truly great experience with the friends I know and love.....

I will most likely find myself on open playa by the end of the summer, as my dad will be going again, thus giving me a free ticket,
and you know what?
It sure would be sad not to have all you wonderful peeps there with me, if only to heckle the passerby, or maybe offer them some fresh sangria, or perhaps a cooling footbath.....

Remember to not reject the event for past experiences, or present feeling, create a new experience that shines forever in your memories,
Burning Man is an exellent medium for that, as we all can attest to

go or dont go, but remember the good, and watch the documentary, cause that temple scene will bring back the true meaning of why we become obsessed with "the rave in the desert"

Just taking the pulse of this idea.
You'll already have a chance to see them on March 3rd with M4MB at the Crystal. Were you to have the option of Groove Bombing it down to Eugene from Portland to catch a second night of Balkan Beat Box, quite possibly with the band or at least some of them, on the bus, and at least my East coast alter-ego world party DJ, Joro Boro, would you be interested. If it makes economic.
If you were to be interested, aside from show ticket prices, what would you be willing to kick in to the bus for this continuation of BBB (and my birthday) festivities?
Ideally (for me, probably not for Andy), we'd be back that night, as so many of us have to work the next day. However, I'm not certain of the feasibility of such details as of yet. This poll should help determine how this all might look.

Geniuses, Help Me To Crack This "Big Sizes" Number Puzzle...

Hello to all of you guys here...
I'd like to post a number puzzle, may this puzzle fits in this section. I'm not a puzzles mania, and I hope you guys here can help me.
This number puzzle is in .xls file format. It looks like HITORI, but it's not. Since here I can't attach .xls file, I put it (name: sept09A.xls) at:

(Don't worry this is being a spam ).
There are tables contain of 10 rows (1,2,3,...,10) each.
Each tables contains of numbers, which here I give example 1 to 40, that should be found its relationships/patterns, so the next numbers can be placed correctly in a certain rows in each tables.
In EACH tables, each numbers appears just one time and there will be no same numbers vertically, horizontally and diagonally.
Tables 1-20 in sheet #2, Tables 21-32 in sheet #3, Tables 33-44 in sheet #4,..., Tables 273-284 in sheet #24.
I name and arrange the tables just like that, though you can do else.
In sheet #1 you can see Tables 1-20 have been filled with numbers 1 to 350.
In sheet #25 you can see that total amount of the numbers in each rows are almost its average, so this isn't random and it should have a solution, shouldn't it?
(I hope this can explain the problems clearly).
Thank you to those who want to pay attentions and interested in this puzzle.

P.S:
1. Because of their similar shapes, in sheet #26 & #27 I rearranged the tables that I think could be the "keys" of this puzzle.
2. This "big sizes" puzzle is very tough, (artistic?) and really needs hard thinking...

Lost necklace at 1000 mast

I can't find a beautiful necklace I lost on Saturday night (or maybe it's at Bryndl's house, which is where I think I took it off, but she didn't see it.)

It's block roped hemped with a big silver piece in the center. It's by an artist, and a very very nice piece.

Spirit Monkey has a huge heart. While this might be stating the obvious, I thought I'd acknowledge this attribute as well as his wonderful presence in our little community. For me, birthdays often evoke reflection. So, let me share a little...

The first time I met Jason was on a casual trip into the Red Light, shortly after the '05 Burn. He was helping the team sort clothes over by the change room area. There was something about our interaction that was so sweet and connected. When a brother can connect with another brother about clothes and style, then you know you've got a good thing going... After a brief exchange about the fact that he had camped with Gwen and the Diva's (who were right next to where I was in AV that year), it was pretty much all over. Next thing I know, we're working on shows together, planning wild excursions to the Burn and making documentary movies. You know, preachin' the word...

I just found out you can export all the email addresses from old EVITES and import them into a new EVITE. Pretty painless and quick.
Has anyone ever used Evite before and can we export the email addresses for our THRESHOLD EVITE? We’ll make it painless for you, just give us your login/password and Chris from the Boutique will take care of it (it takes a bit of computer geekism to do it right…)...or you can export it yourself and send us the excel format and we'll convert.

We'd love to expand this party invitation to other circles outside the typical burner/tribe community, so this would really help us out.

As many of you may or may not know, I practiced law for eight years as a litigator and corporate attorney.

Even though I no longer practice law, I find that many of my friends are starting new businesses, or have existing businesses set up as a partnership or sole proprietorship.

Bad idea.

Bad, BAD, bad idea.

Sadly, there are many vampires and parasites out there looking for any opportunity to sue, hoping for a lottery win of sorts. And partnerships and sole proprietorships are the easiest of targets for unscrupulous lawyers.

If you own a business, and want to be sure that anyone who sues you cannot go after your own personal assets in the event of a lawsuit, you have little choice but to incorporate, or to form a limited liability company.

If you go to a lawyer, you may well spend as much as one to three thousand dollars for something that, with a little training, you can easily do yourself, for only $50 (what the Secretary of State's Office charges as a processing fee to incorporate).

Assuming there is interest, I would like to volunteer my knowledge, absolutely for free, and strictly as a favor to those I love, and run a one-to-two hour clinic on "How to Incorporate in Oregon".

I will discuss:

(1) why it is important to incorporate;

(2) the differences between a corporation and an LLC;

(3) the pros and cons of forming a corporation versus an LLC;

(4) the mechanics of how to incorporate or form an LLC;

(5) the fees the State charges for this;

(6) what kinds of corporate records have to be kept;

(7) how to ensure that, after incorporating, you maintain the limitation on liability for your company, and

(8) answer whatever questions people may have on the subject.

SOOOOO . . . if there is interest in such an endeavor, please respond to me and let me know, and I will be sure to notify you when I schedule the clinic.

I was thinking the second or third weekend in January may be a good fit?

did someone pick up my santa hat at piepo's last night? it's the weird red swim-cap-looking-thing with petals all over it. i couldn't find it before i left, and i know i wore it in there. it's only the first time i've worn that thing, i was hoping to get some more use out of it.

plus there's a reward for the brains in it that spilled out earlier... i need that too, my brain is at very low capacity today.

The band will be playing with Jesus Presley tonight at the old Mt. Tabor theater. I hear they've cleaned up the place a little since the Monkey Odyssey. Hmmm. We'll see about that.

There is a shit storm of Santa's brewing for what appears to be the sunniest Santa Con in Portland - Eh Ver... Philanthropy: Nominate a Nonprofit

Hello Everyone,
We solidified the process for choosing and donating to a non-profit. It was agreed that we would offer the non-profit 20% of the ticket sales they generate between, say, 9-10 pm at the door rather than offering a blanket percentage of the net profit from the event.

Monkey Puzzle and Black Rock Boutique will each present 2 candidates to the Philanthropy Committee (So far this is Mischief, Eric, and I’d like one more. k8??). Committee members cannot nominate as we will make the ultimate decision.

When nominating a candidate use the following simple criteria.

A.The mission of the organization should mesh with our values – Think performance groups, or groups who bring music/arts to underserved populations.
B.Look for that personal connection, a group you work with/support

General things to think about – We’re talking about a fairly small donation here, so keep in mind that more established orgs may not be interested. New/Emerging grassroots orgs will benefit the most.

We will add to marketing materials something small, like “portion of prceeds to go to ”_”.

.Lets aim on having our 4 selections ready for the committee by Nov. 18. please post your ideas ON THE WRITEBOARD ON BASECAMP. Thanks!!!

Any interest in making Threshold a fundraiser?

I'm not a Monkey but had a suggestion for Threshold. Maybe (without raising ticket prices) it could be a fundraiser for a Portland-based non-profit. There could simply be a table with brochures, a mailing list, a box for people put donations, and perhaps a representative to answer questions and take credit card donations. Even if it only raised a few hundred dollars, the effort required would be pretty minimal.

I've been amazed at how quickly the news about the recent tragedy in Bangladesh has died down, so I suggest Mercy Corps efforts there as one possible cause. Check it out: http://www.mercycorps.org/topics/emergencies/1939
They are one of the most efficient and creative aid organizations in the country, and they're based here in Portland. If there is interest, I'm happy to contact people there and see what we would need to do to set it up. Just let me know...
